My family is so Disney...

that even the dog gets involved!

Look at what she made for us last night. If you've been looking for hidden Mickey's lately well then "urine" luck! Get it? Urine... you're in...
Stop judging me.
If you're reading this blog then chances are you would have taken a picture if your dog left a hidden Mickey on a wee wee pad too.

At least I didn't turn the computer on and post it as soon as I saw it. I just ran and got my camera, took a few photos to make sure I got the perfect one, and went back to bed. Leaving the wee wee pad on the floor so that my Disney loving husband could see it in the morning.

Best part about it? He saw it, took a picture of it, and sent it to me in a text while I was at my niece's dance recital. He was just as excited as I was.

So, the next time you think you might be more into the Disney lifestyle than we are, just ask yourself, "would my dog do this?"

What's the strangest hidden Mickey you've ever found?

Disney Blog Hop - Shared Experiences

This week's theme over at the Disney Blog Hop is shared experiences.

I didn't even have to think about what I wanted to write about. Since I had already written about my experience with my mother on the Characters in Flight balloon, I decided to write about my "first" visit to Disney World.
Now, by all means this was not really my first visit to the World. I have been going to Disney since I was an "itty bitty" girl. This was however, my first visit to Disney World as 1. - a married woman and 2.- with my husband who had never been to Disney, heck, he'd never been further south than New Jersey!

The full tale of this trip is too long to share in one post, but as a brief summary this is how it went...

This trip was a surprise. Hubby had no idea we were going. On Christmas morning he opened the gift and asked when we were going. I said "On New Year's Eve! For your birthday!" YAY!!!

And off we went. These are a few of my favorite photos from that trip and some of my favorite memories in general.
Clockwise from left to right...
Our first trip to the Magic Kingdom -Midnight on New Year's Eve behind Cinderella's castle.
Our first trip to Down Town Disney.
Our first ride on The Seas with Nemo and Friends.
Our first trip to EPCOT.

This trip is what started it all... I am so happy I was able to share my husband's first Disney World experience with him and that he wound up loving Disney just as much as I do.

Do you remember your first trip to Disney World? I'd love to hear about it!

Disney Flashback Friday

Who says flashbacks have to take you way back?  Let's just for a minute flash back to March 25th, 2011.

My mother's birthday. It was also about the date that would have marked the longest point of the life expectancy that her stage 4 cancer diagnosis had given her several months before. My husband, my father, my mother, and I celebrated all day. The first thing we did was the Characters in Flight balloon ride. Like my mother, I am terrified of heights so I was surprised that she said yes when I jokingly told her that was what we were doing for her birthday. I admired her strength and bravery then, and now I admire the insight, and thank her for that memory. Later that night we had dinner at Raglan Road Pub in Downtown Disney. We watched the step dancers, we listened to the music, we ate fabulous dinner, and had some drinks. We had a grand ol' time.

It was the perfect way to celebrate my mother's life. Her 67th and last birthday. She passed away 3 months and 4 days later. This will always be one of my favorite and most cherished memories and I am pleased that Disney is involved in it.

I made this collage using My Memories Suite V2.0. This page was made the very first time I used the program and I did not do any retouching just to show how easy it is to use. I did a review of this software in an earlier post. Click HERE to learn more and to enter to win a free copy of the software.

Disney Flashback Friday: My mom kissed another man at Disney!

A few years ago my parents did the unthinkable. That's right, they went to Walt Disney World, and they didn't take me with them!! They did however take their grandchildren. I was devastated and jealous beyond belief. I "got over it" but it always bugged me b/c Disney was "our" thing. Anyway, I am now officially over it, b/c I understand why it went down like this. My mom didn't want me to see her kiss someone other than my father, especially not in public. She didn't want to put me through the visual confirmation of the love affair I had guessed years earlier. Well, she should have done a better job at hiding the evidence!!

My mom, and her love, Eeyore. She even took her glasses off for him!

My mother passed away

It breaks my heart to tell you all, but my mother passed away early Wednesday morning. Her long, hard, painful battle with cancer is over and she is now at peace.

My mother introduced me to all things Disney and I am not sure how I will ever be able to return to Disney World without crying. I hope the good memories of my childhood trips with my mom will keep me strong and will bring some added meaning to my future trips.

My mom was the bravest, strongest, person I have ever known. I doubt I will ever meet another who's courage could match hers.

She was my very best friend. My mommy. I find comfort in the knowledge that if I am in this kind of pain, it means she no longer is.

Go hug your children and your mothers.

This photo was taken on her birthday this past March in Downtown Disney. I think it's the last photo ever taken of us together. I'm so glad we did that trip.

Happy Father's Day

In light of recent events, it has been hard for me to find time to write. My mother isn't doing as well as I'd like, and in fact she is spending the night in the ICU. I wanted to write a post for my dad for father's day but I keep getting too choked up to get anything good out. So instead, I'm going to direct you to my other blog where I have a  father's day post from 2009.

My dad is my hero, my rock. No man will ever be able to fill his shoes, but my husband has all of my dad's best qualities. It saddens me that my father is spending the night alone, while the love of his life lays in a hospital bed, and there is nothing I can do to make things right. All I can do is tell you how amazing he is and send a prayer up to heaven to hopefully help him get the sleep that I cannot seem to find.

Please CLICK HERE to read about my amazing dad.

I'd also like to give a shout out to some of my favorite Disney dads...
KingTritan
Maurice
Mufasa
Geppetto
The Sultan
Marlin
and of course Pongo.

Happy Father's Day!

Who is your favorite Disney dad? I only covered the animated movies I love, I'd really like to hear who your favorites are from all Disney films, and why!

Something About Me Saturday Blog Hop

While catching up on twitter and the blogs I follow I came across the Something About Me Saturday blog hop.

I thought this might be a great time to tell you a bit about myself and in order to keep myself from boring you to death, I'll only share a few tidbits a week. I love the idea of this hop and I'm excited to learn more about the bloggers behind the blogs I follow.

Let me start with why I haven't been blogging much lately... I've had a lot on my mind and have been spending a lot of time soul searching and quite honestly, hiding under the covers.

My mom is currently battling stage IV metastatic melanoma. This is the hardest and scariest thing that I have ever dealt with. I am so happy that I got to spend her birthday with her in Disney, even if we didn't make it to any of the parks. We rode the Characters in Flight balloon ride and while I was terrified, it was an amazing experience and I am so glad I got to do it with her.
